McCreary sets record

Thursday, June 03, 2010

Referee Bill McCreary worked his 43rd career Stanley Cup Final game when he stepped on the ice for game # 3 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Finals, passing Bill Chadwick into first place all-time among referees.

McCreary has officiated over 1,600 NHL games since making his League debut in 1984-85. He made his first Stanley Cup Finals appearance in the 1994 series between the New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks and has worked 15 career Finals [1994-2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010].

As he puts it himself: "I didn't get here by myself. It took great teammates every step of the way." But no doubt his skills, his determination and his dedication are the major reasons why he has excelled at such a high level for so many years.

The NHLOA would like to congratulate Bill on this incredible achievement and wish him all the best for the remainder of this Final.
